The Fitness Lifestyle Design Course was developed by Tom DeJarnette, Certified Personal Trainer, to help people transform their lifestyles into an effective fitness regimen. The course covers a variety of topics such as fitness training needs, anatomy and physiology, exercise physiology, nutrition and diet, motivation, relaxation techniques, fitness psychology, and medical terms. The course works on three levels – beginner, intermediate, and advanced exerciser. It is also designed to encourage students to think critically in order to achieve their fitness goals and benefit from a well-rounded fitness lifestyle.
The main goal of the Fitness Lifestyle Design Course is to teach students how to extend their knowledge on fitness related concepts; design, execute, analyze, and improve a fitness program; and create an individualized level of personal fitness health-related fitness. Learning how to create and execute a fitness program involves educating students about the difference between exercise routines and health. Learning about this difference will help people become more aware of when they need to exercise and when they don’t. Also, by understanding that a person’s physical activities is not necessarily dependent on the type of exercise chosen, but rather on the person’s health status, a person will be able to choose more effective exercises and workouts. Furthermore, learning to adapt an exercise routine to different physical activities is a great way to keep fitness routines constantly challenging without losing enthusiasm.
Designing an optimal level of fitness for everyone involves understanding health and fitness terminology and developing a personalized fitness plan. A fitness program is designed so that an individual meets his or her fitness goals over time, but maintains an optimal level of physical activities. This level of fitness is achieved through regular physical activities and/or exercise, and healthy eating and a balanced diet. However, most people do not engage in these types of physical activities regularly. Therefore, their optimal level of fitness is sub-par or poor.
One way to ensure that an individual maintains an optimal level of fitness is through creating a fitness lifestyle. A fitness lifestyle plan can include any or all of the following elements: Regular exercise and physical activity as part of one’s daily life. Eating the right foods and keeping a well-balanced diet with plenty of fruits, vegetables, fiber, protein, fat and/or carbohydrates. Maintaining a healthy weight through proper diet and regular exercise.
A fitness lifestyle plan can be as simple as setting realistic goals for an individual. For instance, if an individual is committed to participating in a five-mile walk every day, it is unlikely that he or she will reach the goal. Therefore, the initial goal of forming a fitness plan is to establish some goals, such as how much longer the current work commute will be. The more specific the goals are, the easier it is to meet the fitness goal.
A fitness plan should also include goals related to fitness, such as how many sit-ups and push-ups a person can do in one day. This can be increased over time based on the results from the initial goal. Another aspect of developing a fitness lifestyle is making sure to keep consistent, even if a person is not working out. For example, if an individual commits to working out for an hour three times a week, but does not move his or her desk for the entire hour, this can still be considered fitness. Regardless, keeping consistent with a fitness plan is very important.
Developing and sticking to a fitness lifestyle is a lifelong process. It requires making positive changes in all areas of an individual’s life, including work, diet and recreation. The first step is deciding what type of changes you want to make. From there, choose activities that complement your new fitness lifestyle and schedule time each day to complete the tasks.
Fitness is a combination of diet and exercise, and working out on a regular basis. Staying motivated is a must if one expects to see the results they are looking for. Whether choosing to develop a fitness lifestyle through working out at home or enrolling in a fitness class, there are steps to creating a new and healthier lifestyle. Finding fitness solutions and following through with them is the most important factor, and can take some time to see results.
